And So To Bed........

I have spent quite a lot of time on this room considering the bed was already dressed and ready to go. I kept standing back and looking at it all trying to get the right look. I find it really difficult to do messy, dusty or untidy so my witch will have to be a very particular character or perhaps she has a lot of magical creatures to do it for her.
I started with the trunk which has been crackled underneath all the stuff. Them I just lined the edges with different pieces of ribbon and material adding some socks, books, boots, a lovely wicker bag by Kat the Hat Lady and a parasol from The Little Hatter. I think it has just a hint of chaos which is good for me!

A cracked dressing table and stool. Lots of bead perfume bottles, an interested rat and a few bits and pieces. Two skull candle holders at the bag that Ira sent me. I have not stuck everything down as I will be looking for a few extra bits and ideas at Kensington. I'd like a boa to drape, a little bit of glamour perhaps.

These were the first pieces I bought, before the house, before everything... made by Ebay seller Dollshouse Delights I have simply added a few extra pieces like: books from Treefeathers and Jenny Kelm, witch toffee jar by Nikki Rowe, plus a few pieces of fabric to make the drawers look used. Even two years on I still love this bed.
This is the room in its mostly finished state. Just needs a bit of tweaking and bats added to the roof trusses. I am sure you can spot Kat's hat and Jenny's 'Three Sisters' portrait.

So I am walking away from it now and leaving it alone - no tweaking until I find the bits I want! I do think my new vampire bats are going in this room now it will be a little crowded with the furry ones but so it should!

  1. The Room looks great. I think your Vampire Bats would look good hanging from the Rafters.
Have you got your list ready for Kensington?

  6. Hi Kate, this house has been my most ambitios project. The kit is from Maple Street Miniatures and is much bigger than my others. It came with all the balsa for the beams and a template of where they could go. I researched all the plastering, brickwork and balsa distressing and then had a go.
I am really pleased with the finish. I will post full pictures of the house next week.
    Regards,
    Janice

  9. What a wonderful collection! I chuckled at the Anne Rice novel in the trunk :) I love the idea of a glamourous witch -- I do hope you find that feather boa, and everything else on your list at Kensington!

  13. Thanks Jean. I have a very long list but I will have to be very disciplined and not wander off thinking about the next but 3 project. It is so possible to get completely carried away!

  14. lovely room! I like the idea of a feather boa & think that would finish the room off perfectly draped over the cheval mirror in the corner.

  15. It's great to see a glam witch, and you have some fab things! All my witches are not in the slightest bit glam! lol

I bought some flying bats (in rafters of my witches house) from Small Wonders Miniatures, sadly I don't think Doreen has anymore, but she maybe able to tell you where or who she bought them from. :o)

I will be like you Janice, my long list for Kensington is full of things I need, and I must try and stick to it and not buy too many 'nice to have's and/or for project number 6 or 8! lol

  16. Hi Wendy, I agree the morror needs something, I have a couple of cloaks but they will not drape as I want. I like the boa idea to brighten that corner.
