Feeling Much Less Broken!

Firstly I have to say a big thank you to all of you who have left such kind messages for me. I was feeling a bit sorry for myself and all these kind thoughts made me feel so much better.
I was completely overwhelmed by how many of you took the time to pop by and wish me better.
Thank you so much, it was really appreciated.
A few days on and the whole arm feels so much better thank goodness and I feel confident that I will not have to have it re-broken on Friday. That will still leave another 5 weeks of wearing the cast but I am getting more used to it every day.
In fact I have been a busy tiler!
The supplies I have been waiting for have arrived so I have been able to set about finishing off the exterior tiling.
As this ledge will be seen when the front comes off I decided to use the same floor tiles I had used in the main shop. They have been laid and sealed (PVA/Water) ready for grouting.
It took me about twice as long as usual with only one arm but I managed it.
These paviors will be outside all the Diagon Alley shops but with only one arm they were a bit of a challenge today!
Not thinking properly I made a mistake on the steps which means a bit of extra work to ensure the steps have a ledge but I hope I will be able to rectify it once they are grouted.
I had to 'cut' using sand paper only which means the muscles on my right arm worked very hard today!!
Still I can think of worse ways to spend the day.
I think my plan for the weeks up to Christmas will be to ignore all the small creative jobs for which I would definitely need two hands, which will definitely include the lighting I think but you never know......
So tomorrow the roof will go on and I will start that tiling.
Well I can't hoover, clean bathrooms, drive, wash up, cook, iron......can I?!!!!

  1. Well, you've managed a lot considering, and wonderfully neat and straight too! I couldn't decide on what I wanted for mine, so I will do it later. I've left the bit (where the front is opened and the paving shows underneath),just painted slate grey, I just wasn't sure what to make of it! lol

If you haven't already, don't forget to sand the bottom of your door and the bottom of the front down, so they glide over the top of the tiles and bricks. :o))

I have the roof tiles...but not the chimney pot...so not got that far, see...even you a broken wrist you'll be finished before me! lol

Wishing you a pain free time from now on, the weeks will fly by! :o)))) I had 6 months till my knee was fixed, so not so much fun! lol

  2. Hi Michelle,
It's definitely not perfect but I wanted to get on really. A bit achey this evening I must admit but it has been worth it. I am hoping I have allowed for all the different levels and hinges. If not more sanding, hooray!
Six months! Gosh that must have been tough! Fracture clinic on Friday so I will know more then hopefully.

  7. Buen trabajo.

  10. Just wanted to say how great the steps and pavement looks. Especially impressive considering your poor arm, but glad to see you are still keeping busy with minis.

  11. One armed tiling can't be easy! And yet you've made such a great job if it, it's a really nice feature.

Thanks for your note on my blog, the game between NZ and France was a real nailbiter!

  12. Thank you so much for all your kind comments....I am amazed how much I was actually able to do! One advantage of these kits is that they are incredibly light, and they are easy to move around with one hand.
Not sure I could have managed a DHE kit in quite the same way....
The tiles are also ready made, no artistic paper clay for me unfortunately! And because they are made from real materials they sand down very easily enabling me not to have to worry about cutting them to size.
By the end of the day my arm was protesting but I am very lucky that I don't have to go to work, I can play all day!

  13. Excellent progress, even with one arm. It's coming along really well.
