Well I think it is....yes it is, definitely.....no tweaking or filling allowed. Definitely not. I will not tamper. Or over fill. Or add. Really, nothing else?
Lots of photographs tonight as I can't help having fun with the camera, it's so rarely I actually finish a room. What's more it actually comes within a hair's breadth of being exactly how I imagined it.
As usual the characters of my Harry Potter world are surrounded by animals. An owl by Annie Willis and cats by David Ward. I can't remember who made the mice, I have had them stashed away for so long. The rock candy baskets were a gift from Nikki Rowe and I have given them the Honeydukes treatment.
These over large bottles were a mistake purchase that have finally found a place. I have tinted them with glass paint and soaked the corks in wood stain. I have filled them with unwanted bath crystals from M&S.
So far I have left the back shelf empty......it may become a place for leftover jars from the downstairs shop. If I break my no over-filling rule.
The candelabra, by Erika Van Horne, has been placed on the back wall. I would still like a standard lamp I think. Gosh, I am a lost cause! The wonderful bowl of fruit is a white bisque piece I have painted and filled with individual fruit by Bels Mini World. Do have a look in her shop, Bel is also so helpful if you have a commission. Her food is among the best I have seen.
Now there is space in the back corner. Should I fill it up with crates? I do so hate empty spaces. Maybe more crate piles one day? The Bat's Blood containers are novelty silver cocktail shakers for lip balm that I have sprayed and labelled.
Some of the pieces are glued to the floor while others are Tacky Waxed just in case I decide to have a change around.
I still can't make up my mind about the coffee table. There is a small amount of room amongst the witches. I only want a basic utility one to match Jane's furniture so I could try and make one and then decide.
I do love the way Lory's candles are looking on with such judgement!
I am going to leave it be now and return to the lower floor. Window displays beckon. I need to fill the windows before trying to fix the window panes. I think this will be easier to manage.
Apparently rain is due tomorrow so I will be able to hide in the workshop all day watching/listening to the tennis. Perfect English summer day!
It looks fantastic Janice..
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Debbie you are very kind. It's always lovely to receive such comments from those whose work is so highly regarded.

ReplyDeleteHi Lidi, I am really pleased with it, I have been smiling for days!!
DeleteI don't think it is finished! Surely, you can find room for something else. :)
ReplyDeleteHa, ha.....now don't tempt me!!
DeleteYou've done an amazing job, I've loved watching you bring this scene to life and those two characters just make me smile! x
ReplyDeleteHi Ali, I must admit this is the first time I have stepped away and just wanted to smile and give myself a pat on the back. After ten years I finally think I have finished a room that does exactly what I hoped for!
DeleteHello Janice,
ReplyDeleteThe room is perfect. I know how easy it is to try and fix "one last thing", but don't gild the lily!
Big hug,
Giac
Hi Giac, you are so right. Little by little I am learning at last.
