My husband and son were given the task today of moving my collection of houses down to the workshop today. Luckily, although it has been very chilly the sun was shining.
The first to be moved were the Diagon Alley projects.
These are on the shortest work shop run. From left to right: The Leaky Cauldron, Potage's Cauldron Shop, Flourish and Blotts, Slug and Jiggers and The Magical Menagerie.
Above my display unit are three, yet to be started projects. The DHE gate house (?) I bought from another hobbyist and will be completely stripped back. I love the shape of this house but have yet to decide what it will become. The middle Sid Cooke shop will be part of my Hogsmeade shops and will eventually house all my magical plants. The third unit is an old DHE kit, I think it was a summer cottage and has a porch. I am not sure yet but the shape of this screams gingerbread house to me.
This corner is reserved for Madame Malkins, part of my Hogsmeade group. This is a big house that needs two people and my trusty helpers decided it was time to take a break and watch the football. Honeydukes is waiting for me to re-start the building process.
Another gap!! This will eventually be filled by a Sid Cooke Highgate House but the gap will allow me some room to manoeuvre while I sort out the lights and things. All the plugs will have timer switches so those house with lights will come on every evening and hopefully be seen from the main house. I also bought some very cheap light bases that will sit behind the houses and also add a little light.
Left to right this end group are my florist and gift shop, my Tudor toyshop, another Sid Cooke Ebay renovation project yet to be decided and a very early project a tea shop and bakery.
The display shelves are sorted and my dolls are out of their tissue and getting to know each other.
This shelf is home to a few pieces I wanted to have out to remind me that I have them and for inspiration. Three of them were bought by my children while on their travels and I may never use them in my projects but I was touched that they thought of me.
Meanwhile my two best friends are making themselves at home.
They have each decided upon their favourite spot and seem to be quite happy to join me in the workshop, as long as a doggie biscuit in involved!!
Tomorrow I am going to sort out the lighting and the cabling for the printer and TV, move down the final pieces from the house and then sit on my snuggler and think happy thoughts about how lucky I am.
Oh, and I have to come clean three houses are staying in the big house. One is just too big to move and the other two can live where they are in the spare room as they are finished, more or less.
Have a great Monday everyone.
I love it when a plan comes together. Congratulations on your new shop and move lovely collection you have.... and thank you for inspiring me ..

How kind Mario, I hope you have been making progress with your new workshop. I can't believe I actually have such a fabulous workspace now.
DeleteWhat an Amazing collection of houses and shops and isn't it wonderful to be surrounded by them in your new environment? I am certain that any visitors would feel privileged to be allowed inside your new garden retreat to see where you really live! :D

Hi Elizabeth, no one is really interested in my hobby unfortunately, my friends and family all think I am either pretty strange or a total time waster. All hobbies seem peculiar to others I think. That's why it's so nice to share online.
DeleteI am new to your blog and your houses look amazing. I am looking forward to going through your whole blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Diane. I hope you find it interesting and enjoy your browsing time. Please drop by again.
DeleteGood to see you have moved in! I enjoyed following the progress on your workshop. It looks great and very comfortable with that chair in there. I have thought of putting a comfy chair in my workshop, but I'm afraid I won't get anything done then ;-) . You have got a wonderful collection and lovely helpers.
ReplyDeleteThanks Josje, I haven't sat in the chair yet it always seems to full of dogs!
DeleteTu colección de personajes y casas es impresionante. Además has conseguido colocarlos de manera visible y accesible. ¡Está quedando fenomenal tu nuevo taller!.Tus pequeños amigos parecen contentos.
ReplyDeleteGracias Isabel.
DeleteYou have a great collection of little houses. For what it's worth, I really like the Gatehouse as it is.
ReplyDeleteIt will certainly be that way for a while yet Shannon. I really must finish one project!
