Quick Update on Today's Progress in the Garden Workshop

Just a quickie today as I have only just got back from a panic trip to my nearest Ikea. I am worrying about the work table space at the moment so I had to pick up a couple of smaller table tops that I hope will solve the problem.
This unit is the only unit that is not a kitchen cabinet. It is part of the Ikea Besta range. The white fronts are a good match for the units and fill what would be a dead corner. I was going to put an open chrome unit I already have here housing two of my larger houses but then I saw this and thought it would be a good place to display some of my collection that hasn't seen the light of day for a while.
It also has drawers which it appears I can't have enough of! It is 120cm wide so the top space can hold some smaller projects that are still in the very early stages.
My poor chippie has been in drawer hell today having to build a total of 53 he tells me. Poor man he will be having nightmares about them tonight!!
He is hoping to get everything finished tomorrow but now I have come up with a cunning plan regarding my work tables I might be adding to his woes. 53 drawers means 53 handles!!
I really wanted to have chrome drawer label holders on each drawer but the cheapest I have been able to find in the right size are £2.80 each and I can't justify that really. I might try the self adhesive plastic ones or simply remember where things are!

  2. Hi Janice, I am certain that the perfect solution will present itself, so don't worry! But Labeled drawers are the only answer. I don't have nearly as many as you do and I forget what is in where, until I open the drawer and then it is " Oh, yeah, now I remember" and of course that is AFTER I have spent money on what I already forgot I had in the drawers.
LABELS are a MUST HAVE. They will save you MONEY!

    1. I think you are right Elizabeth. I will go with the plastic self adhesive ones though as I would have to get the chippie to install the other ones that would add even more to their cost. It all looks so crisp at the moment and I don't want to spoil the look with tatty plastic, how sad is that!!

  3. Janice, I feel for you re the handles! I was in the same boat when we redid my kitchen this past summer. The handles I liked were all over $10 each, and needing over 40, that was out of the question! Finally found some with a totally different look, but really liked them, and ONLY $2 each. Much more doable. I am still trying to remember where I put things! I have over 3 times the storage and counter space as my old kitchen.

    1. I do hope so it's been so unproductive being spread all over the house and my family have got more and more fed up. Now they will be wondering what has happened to me!!
